Executive Functioning Skills
Does your child have difficulty organizing their
supplies and assignments?
I can work with you and your child to design and implement a system for organizing everything “school!” I have worked with many students who struggle with executive functioning skills to find out what system works best for them given their preferences, habits, and grade level. Start the school year off right by having a plan in place to manage everything from lunchboxes and lockers to assignments and class supplies/books.

Math Tutoring
Like reading, math builds on a foundation of key skills. If your child is missing any of these components (number sense, geometric understanding, fractions, measurement, algebraic knowledge, etc.), they need help to get back on track. I facilitate learning through hands-on activities, games and interactive learning (no worksheets here!)
Whether your child needs specific intervention or just help with new concepts as they pop up, I can help!

Direct Instruction in Reading
There is no “one-size-fits-all” instructional method to help a child who is struggling to read. It's important to find out exactly where they need help to become more confident readers. At some point, any child might struggle with decoding (sounding words out and following “rules”), comprehension (understanding what they read), and/or fluency (reading with a natural flow that supports comprehension). I can help you understand what specifically your child struggles with and provide direct instruction to help them get closer to where they need to be. As a former classroom teacher of Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 4th grades, as well as a Special Education teacher to 5th-7th graders, I have been trained in and utilized many programs and methods over the years, including Orton-Gillingham, Fundations, Wilson Reading, Read Naturally, and Corrective Reading. I can help your child improve their reading skills based on their specific learning needs by combining these methods with my own unique process utilizing non-verbal cues.

Special Education Services
Need help understanding your child's current (or proposed) IEP?
As a Special Education Liaison and Teacher, I have reviewed, re-written and created hundreds of IEPs; I take great pride in ensuring they are correctly written to support the needs of the specific child. I can provide one-on-one instruction tailored to your child's educational gaps and/or IEP goals - complete with data to support our progress. With your consent, I can also review your child's IEP and help you understand their needs. I can even help you get ready for IEP meetings, provide you with advice and a “checklist” of what to ask at IEP meetings.
